2024 was a milestone year for the five Kenyan scholars Women for Change supports in Sydney — young women who first came through Kakenya's Dream in the Maasai Mara, and who arrived in Australia to take up tertiary scholarships with leadership pathways.
Linet completed her Master of Cyber Security at Western Sydney University and secured a graduate role as a Cyber Specialist. Having never owned a computer before arriving in Australia, she had already completed her undergraduate IT degree with a Dean's List commendation. She remains closely connected to her village, where her father and the elders regularly seek her advice.
Sharon graduated with her Masters in Pharmacy and secured employment, and Peyian also stepped into work following graduation. Cynthia finished her nursing degree and is completing professional registration. And Vivian — our newest scholar — finished her first semester of Medical Science at Western Sydney University.
These young women are terrific role models for their communities. Back home, hundreds more young women benefit each year through our partnership with Kakenya's Dream — from school through to university and into careers.
Your support makes stories like these possible. A scholarship is never just tuition: it's mentoring, confidence, and a pathway home as a leader.
